Fakarava is a secluded and tranquil island with a lovely tropical climate. It never gets extremely hot as there is always a nice sea breeze to enjoy. This is a sundrenched island, which only sometimes gets brief but heavy rain.

The highest temperatures are between December and March (around 30°C/85°F), with the rest of the year being a little cooler and less humid.

Water temperatures range from 25°C/77°F degrees in the cooler months to 30°C /86°F in the height of summer. This will make your diving trip even more enjoyable.

The currency of French Polynesia is the French Pacific Franc. There are no ATM machines on Fakarava so make sure to bring some cash. The hotel has currency exchange facilities for Euro, US$, Yen, AUS$ and NZ$).

Major credit cards are accepted, including Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and JCB. Please note: an online booking system will be added to this site soon but you cannot use JCB to book online.

Tipping or additional service charges are far from common in French Polynesia. A good attitude towards the local people and bringing them a smile is much more appreciated as this suits the Polynesian tradition of hospitality.

With barely a few miles of roads and a flat surface, there is no need for public transportation. Walking, biking or taking a scooter are perfect options for venturing around the village.
