I went to Fakarava on the recommendation of a (diving) travel agent. The resort is remote and very comfortable, simple but elegant, but not super luxury. All the staff is friendly. The white beach is pleasant and an easy swim/lagoon snorkel; kayaks and gear provided. Bungalows are nicely appointed: all amenities, nice hardwood decor, decks, and bathroom areas with separate step down shower areas. The bar/restaurant offers excellent quality food and amiable service. Top Dive is a first class operation and on site at the hotel. These are some of the most incredible dive sites in the world and the DMs are wonderful. Hfl – San Francisco, USA
At first look we wondered at the more basic nature of this hotel, especially after staying at Bora Bora Lagoon Resort. I agree with other reviews that recommend travelling to the Tuamotu's before going to the more luxurious accommodations on the Society Islands.
Having said that, we were extremely pleased with our Premium Beachfront accommodation. The units are a bit dark, but after all it was our honeymoon!! Opening the curtains to large double doors onto the porch provided a wonderful view of sunset. The other beachfronts only had partial views of the beach and sunset. The shower was an outstanding surprise and we are trying to find a way to design this into our next house! The shower is located at the rear of the room down three steps into a rock garden. It is open to the sky and is detailed beautifully.
We had a meal package and the dinners were absolutely exquisite. We expected a basic meal but were pleasantly surprised when we had a choice of two fixed menus (typical of French restaurants). The staff was pleasant; bartender made great Mai Tai's and the band was fun to listen to. - FLEMIN1, ST. Petersburg, Fl.
